Berkeley Urdu Language Program

The Berkeley Urdu Language Program in Pakistan (BULPIP), founded in 1978 and revived at LUMS in 2014, aims to equip US citizens affiliated with American institutions of higher learning with the necessary tools to do research in Urdu. The Program is jointly administered by the American Institute of Pakistan Studies and the Institute for South Asian Studies at Berkeley, and is hosted at LUMS by the Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature. BULPIP students live on campus and attend intensive language instruction, as well as excursions and guest lectures. They also take part in campus life at LUMS. The program spans over 15 weeks.
