Since 2010, Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature has been involved in so many diverse activities regarding South Asian Culture and Literary Traditions. Halqa-e Danish is a permanent title under which such activities are planned and executed. Every semester, the Centre organizes a series of 10 to 12 weekly sessions on some major themes of South Asian Culture and Literature. Halqa-e Danish is also a student body that works under the umbrella of the Centre and supervised by one of the faculty members. Halqa-e Danish, so far, has managed to organize Urdu lecture series on Rumi, Iqbal, Ghalib, Mir, Prominent Eastern Female Poets, Urdu Afsana (short stories), Punjabi Sufi Poets, so on and so forth. This fall semester, the Gurmani Centre, in collaboration with Gad and Brigit Rousing Library at LUMS, is hosting a series of 11 weekly lectures and other events. The theme of this semester lecture series is, Our Culture and Literature: Some Windows and Dimensions. The leading scholars from the relevant fields will deliver lectures on various aspects of the theme in Urdu. The Lectures will be held every Friday, beginning on September 15th.
