Rumi's Legacy, Esin Chalabi

Esin Chalabi Bayru is the granddaughter of Mawlana Rumi from the 22nd generation and is the Vice President of the International Rumi Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation is to sponsor and disseminate research on Rumi’s thought and to provide consulting for Mevlevi gatherings, programs, books and artistic works. Mrs. Chalabi is well-known among lovers of Rumi and has been promoting his teachings through public talks and seminars that touch on the relevance of his philosophy for contemporary Muslim societies, the challenges of fundamentalism, and on the western appropriation and interpretation of Rumi’s thought and poetry. Last, but not least, she he has highlighted the importance of Muslim women in Sufism.
