One of the Center's flagship initiatives is the annual publication of Bunyad, a research journal recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as one of the top-ranked journals in Urdu studies. Beyond publishing, the GCLL regularly invites artists, poets, calligraphers, and fiction writers to showcase their work and conduct workshops on creative writing, research methodologies, and related themes.
Due to its extensive contributions, the Gurmani Center has become a cornerstone of the vibrant intellectual and artistic life not only on the LUMS campus but also in the broader cultural landscape of Lahore.
From English Fiction into Urdu Fiction: A Literary Journey (A Conversation with the Renowned Novelist Osama Siddique)
The Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature invites you to an engaging conversation with Osama Siddique, one of today’s distinguished novelists. Titled “From English Fiction into Urdu Fiction: A Literary Journey”, this session will trace the creative path of a writer who has contributed significantly to both English and Urdu literature. It will offer valuable insights into the intersections, challenges, and possibilities that emerge when moving between languages and literary traditions. This journey is more than a shift in language; it is a crossing of worlds, sensibilities, and cultural inheritances, opening new ways of imagining stories and reshaping themes within a new literary landscape.
The session will be moderated by Zahid Hassan, distinguished Punjabi novelist, poet, and literary scholar.
